The Wear Sleeve for ELGi Screw Compressors is a hardened, precision-ground metal sleeve designed to fit over the air-end drive shaft. Its primary purpose is to provide a perfectly smooth, sacrificial surface for the Shaft Seal (Lip Seal) to ride on.
In ELGi’s EG and EN series compressors, the constant friction of the high-speed rotating seal can eventually "score" or wear a microscopic groove into metal. By using a replaceable wear sleeve, ELGi ensures that you can restore a 100% leak-proof seal without the astronomical expense of replacing or machining the entire air-end drive shaft.
